Halloween Spirit

I am really getting in the mood for fall and Halloween mainly because I am tried of the heat and long for colder weather.  We went camping over the weekend again and the aspen trees are just starting to turn yellow in the higher mountain areas.  I have been busy one again working on Halloween projects and I am very happy with one of my latest finishes.  Its not a cross stitch finish but I cannot wait to hang it up in a few weeks.

The pattern is from a company called At My Grandmother's Knee and is called Happy Jack.  The fabric was fun to work with and I do have to say this is some of my best fabric piecing to date, all my corners are perfect.  I was surprised one night after working on it to come back to the kitchen a few minutes later and find that the eyes on the boarder fabric glow in the dark, it took me a few minutes to realize what was glowing on my table.  The finished size is about 30 inches by 30 inches.  The project took me much longer than I wanted it too due to on going shoulder pain.

Closer view of some of the fun fabric.

Another item I managed to finish is called Jester Jack and its by Cherrywood Design Studio and is in the Just Cross Stitch 2012 Halloween special issue.  He worked up very quick.

I've also managed to get a few more blocks done for my HOME collection.  I used a sunflower for August and and owl face for September.

I said I would explain more about my shoulder so here it is... I normally do not like to post too personal of stuff but decided I would make an exception since a few people have been asking whats up with it.  I have been diagnosed with tendonitis and bursitis in my left shoulder.  Its been caused by a number of factors but mainly I think its from lifting items to heavy.  It causes me to have shooting pains in my shoulder, across my collar bone, down my arm and sometimes up my neck into the left side of my face.  There are nights that I am not able to sleep well because of the pain and I fall asleep with ice packs only to wake up later in pain again after the ice pack has gotten warm.  The doctors put me on a strong anti inflammatory but its really not helping much so I am going back to the doctors next week for a follow up appointment.  I am tired of living on pain pills and I hate taking muscle relaxers which seem to give me some relief but make me unsteady on my feet and I learned the hard way that I cannot take them and then walk down the stairs to get a drink in the middle of the night, me and stairs are not friends.  I have a feeling that my next option is to go to a specialist and I have a feeling that needles are going to be involved which is not good considering I am terrified of them.  The only good thing is that it does not seem to affect my stitching most nights so I have been able to get some stitching time in as long as I am not in pain before I start stitching.  I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband who has been helping me thru the pain and also around the house.  Any who that whats going on with that.

My near future stitching goals are to finish the last of the Bucilla bird and teacup series, I am about 1/2 done with the 3rd and final teacup and I also want to work on a few more Halloween items.  I have more wood items bought to paint for the HOME series and also some fun Halloween ones too.

Hope everyone is getting lots of stitching done.
