A first for me

I am so ready for cooler weather and fall colors, the heat and wind from this week just seems to dry out everything including me.  I have 2 finishes to share with eveyone. The first one is Happy Hoots from SanMan originals.  I bought this little tuck last year and just got around to stitching it.  It was a really quick stitch and I just love the little tuck that was made to go with it.

This next one I am pretty proud, my first Biscornu,  The pattern is from Halloween Sewing Set by Giulia Punti Antichi.  I decided it was best to do a simple pattern for my first one and I am sure that this will not be my last one.

My goal for the rest of the week is to work on a few WIPS and hopefully make some progress on them.

A few finishes to share and a choice to make.

Decided it was time for an update now that the kids are back in school.  My son started 1st grade this year and so far he is really liking it and I really like his teacher.  I have been trying to go to sleep sooner now that I have to be up at 7am to get him to school so I have not been able to stay up until 2am stitching like I used to.  I am really not a morning person at all, I am a serious night owl.  I am sure I will get used to it sooner or later.

I did manage to finish my voodoo girl.  I am still undecided on if I like her with her hair so maybe your comments will help me decide on it.  First picture shows her with her hair.  I had it braided at first but really didn't like it so I took the braids out and I kinda like how she looks now with it all wild and frizzy.

This one shows her with the hair tucked behind.  Please be honest and tell me which one you like better.  I am still thinking I will be putting black wings on her when I put her on my Halloween tree.  Maybe I will wait until I get her wings on and see what I think then.

And just for the fun of it, here is what she looks like under a black light.  Its a little blurry but you get the point.

I have also finished a few Christmas items.  The cute peppermint acorn is a freebie from Hand Blessings that can be found in a newsletter online at My Fiberworks, I think its the Nov 2009 issue.

This reindeer is called cute as a button and can be found in the UK Cross Stitcher issue 220.  It came as a kit with the magazine and I wanted to get it stitched before I forgot which one it came with.

I should be starting my Halloween stitching next, but may work on my Tree of Stitches WIP as well since I am really behind on it.  Oh to many projects so little time.

A Mouse, Buttons and Voodoo??

I feel like a headless chicken whose been split in half going many directions.  Between getting ready for my son to go back to school and many other things I have managed a little stitch time.  I have been working on the VooDoo girl from Haberdashery Designs.  I decided not to use the floss it called for which was the Krienik glow in the darks and instead I am using the DMC florescent floss.  I am really liking the results and its making the project more cheerful looking.  So why am I working on a voodoo doll??  Well for one thing I love Halloween and the next thing I think when I add black wings to her she is going to look great on top of my Halloween tree.  Here is my progress so far.

I finished this little cutie about a week ago and I am really happy with how it looks.  This is Mirerva's Mouse from Just Nan.  I could not afford to get the actually kit that came with the pretty owl so I managed to buy just the pattern at an online auction.  I just couldn't see paying $65.00 for it even though I know its well worth it.  This was a really fun, quick stitch and I plan to stitch it again on dark fabric.  Her tail is the DMC memory thread and the button I found at a local fabric store.

I love buttons and thought it would be fun to show you my buttons.  I keep them in a basket that I bought at a thrift store but I think I will need a new basket soon since this one is looking a little over loaded.

I love these little bags.  Each bag holds a different holiday or season of buttons.

This box sits in the bottom of the basket and has 12 little jars that hold all my little buttons.

And here is the rest of the buttons that hide in my basket.   Every time I go to a craft store I have to look at the buttons to see if there is anything else I can add to my basket.

Happy stitching and maybe next time I will have another finish to share.  I have been pulling Halloween and Fall designs to stitch, just need to decide which one to stitch next.
