Tweet Tea and Shamrocks

I am so glad that I am finally done with the first bird in my Teacup series.  This was a really fun stitch and I am looking forward to stitching the other 2 in the set.  By the way the series is a kit from Bucilla called Birds and teacups.  I did not use the fabric that came the kit, I used a 28 count white linen.

I actually finished this last week and wanted to post it on St. Patricks day but I just never got around to it, LOL.  The pattern is from Vee and Co. and its called Shamrock Circle.  I stitched it using DMC Variations 4045 and 4180.  I also added the lady bug to the center for extra luck.

My next projects will be an Easter ones and hopefully I will also find time to work on my Mystery project, the Christmas SAL and also my HAED project.

A few Finishes

Wow whats wrong with me 3 blog posts in 2 days, LOL.  I just wanted to share a few more projects I stitched last week and put the final touches on.  The first one is the Febuary owl from the Oakhaven SAL that I made into a little item to put on the easel and the next one is the March owl done the same way.

This one I really love its an Irish Claddagh that I finished into a no-sew cube.  I love the fabric that I put with it.  I enjoyed stitching this project aside from a visit from the frog and I having to rip out over have of the gold floss.

Well I am off to pull threads to start my very first HAED, yup I am going to break down and stitch one.  The one I have selected is a smaller project that is only 85x187 and has 51 colors in it, LOL  Wish me luck.

Animal updates

I decided that I would update on some of the critters at my house.  Back in September I posted that I had baby snakes hatching, the final total was 3 albino males and 1 normal colored female.  All 4 snakes are doing great and growing fast.  Speaking of growing fast I didn't relize that I hadn't posted about the other babies I had hatch out.  I was very lucky to get 4 baby tortoises hatch out the beginning October and I cannot believe how they are growing.  This first picture shows their size when they hatched, I used a quarter to help you visualize the size of them.

and here is that same baby today...  That really is a quarter and not a dime.  Notice how much dark growth there is and they are only 5 months old.

Here are the 4 of them eating... and they really will eat all of that lettuce in a day.  I also feed them apples, carrots, squashes and lots of other items plus add calcuim powder to their food.

Hee hee and here is how to tease torties.  They go crazy when they see me making their food and climb over each other to try to get to the food.

Last but not least is an update on the new kitty.  She is fitting in nicely even if the other kittys do not want to play with her.   We still need to take her to the vet to have her fixed but right now, since she is an indoor kitty, its not a huge priority although I am tired of the 3 am screaming.  By the way we ended up naming her Abby.  We call her Abby the tabby.  I just took this pictuse as she was finishing a yawn, she was not happy that I woke her up to take her picture, so it looks like she is sticking her tongue out at us.  Such a rough life she has now.  Oh and if you want to see a funny video of her click here.  She will not jump over the baby gate at the top of our stairs like the other cats, instead she squeezes thru a 3 inch gap next to the wall, silly kitty.

Hope you do not mind the critter updates from time to time.

Progress on 3 projects

Ok first of all since it is Wednesday here is the update on the On Christmas Day SAL.  I didn't get much done on it and have come to the decission that I am not going to push myself working on it.  My stitching mojo is back for the most part except when it comes to this project so what I am planning to do is complete 1 page a month on it until I am done.  I currently have 3 1/2 pages to go in it so I think that is a realistic goal since there are so many other projects that I want to be stitching and I am so over winter and do not want to be stitching snowflakes right now, LOL.  Anyway here is my progress.

I have also been working on 2 other projects.  One is the Birds and Teacups which I am getting close to finishing.  I filled in all the areas with white and decided that it would not show up in the picture to much so I took a before and after picture of the pattern.  Yes, I make working copies of some pattern and mark them off as I go on the larger projects and kits and then let my shreader eat them, by the way my shreader is my pet rat named Smudge, who has a blast chewing them into little peices and making big fluffy nests.

And here is the actually project, not much more to do now.

The last project is called Shamrock Circle from Vee and Co.  I am using DMC Variations 4045 for it and I am really liking the results.  I started the project using what was left of one skein of floss and ran out and the second skein I had was not the same colors at the first so I drove all over town with my project to find a skein of floss that matched and I am happy with what I found.

I hope to spend some time this week finishing a few other projects that I am done stitching but need to make into an ornament and a no sew cube.  Happy stitching everyone!!

A Hoot of a RAK

After having a really crazy week, recieving a RAK from Cat was just what I needed to end the week on a high note.  She really spoiled me with owl goodies.  Recently I have been on an owl kick.  I have always stitched owl items for my Mom who has a huge collection of owl items but lately I have started collecting them as well so Cat's RAK is perfect for me.

She sent me 2 peices of fabric, a roll of owl ribbon, an owl flag, a stitched ornement, a felt owl decoration and an owl scissor fob.  I have been wanting to get me the hanger for the flag for sometime now and now I have the perfect excuse to get one.

Here is a better shot of the fob she sent, it goes perfect with my favorite pair of scissors and I just love it.

Thanks Cat for all the goodies!!!

Two Finishes and some progress.

I still do not feel like my stitching mojo is back 100% but at least I am feeling less stressed now that the month of February is over with (long story).  I was able to get lots of stitching done over the weekend and even finished one WIP, one small project and have some progress to show on the Christmas SAL.

This first one is the February owl from the Oakhaven SAL.  I still need to finish it into the little picture to place on the easel but at least I was able to finish stitching it.  I already have the next part of the SAL and its very cute, I may even start it tonight.

The next one is the bookmark from The Ship's Manor.  Only thing I changed on it was the color of the rabbit and then I outlined him so he would stand out a little.  I still have not decided how to finish it but I am sure I will come up with something creative.

Last but not least, since it is Wednesday, I need to show the progress on my Christmas SAL.  I can now say that I am officially 1/2 done with the stitching on it and I am really liking how it looks.  Hopefully I can keep motivated to continue working on it.
